Kim Delaney is an American actress best known for playing the role of Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she garnered an Emmy Award. Her credits include All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. She was born as the only child to a senior executive of the United Auto Workers and a homemaker Delaney was raised with four brothers. As a child, Delaney fantasized of being a court reporter. Her modeling career began in highschool and eventually gained commercials when she moved into New York. The role she was given was that of a young innocent in 1981's soap opera All My Children. Delaney was in numerous of TV movies, film and dramas after that. Similar to her profession but her personal life hasn't been a success or happy one. The talented actress has struggled with alcoholism throughout her life and had two failed marriages. In 2005 her custody was taken away from her.
